This section describes DirectShow features that are new in Microsoft® Windows® XP Service Pack 1 and in DirectX 9.0. To see what was new for DirectShow in DirectX 8.1 and other releases, see Previous DirectShow What's New Sections. Windows XP Service Pack 1 contains the DirectX 8.1 runtime libraries, plus the libraries that support the XP-only functionality described in What's New for Windows XP Service Pack 1. To use the DirectX 9.0 libraries on Windows XP Service Pack 1, for example to use the new Video Mixing Renderer-9, you must manually install DirectX 9.0.
