What's New for Windows XP Service Pack 1

New Stream Buffer Engine Components: In Windows XP, Service Pack 1, the stream buffer engine filters and helper objects have been added. These are special DirectShow filters and helper objects that enable video applications to seek, pause, and record streamed video without interrupting the stream. The Video Control is also updated for Service Pack 1 to support the stream buffer engine. For more information, see Using the Stream Buffer Engine.

New TV Ratings Components: The new Extended Data Services (XDS) components can be used in conjunction with the content security components and stream buffer engine to supply TV ratings data for parental control and channel blocking application features. New Stream Buffer Content Security Components: The new encryption and decryption filters can be used to protect content acquired through the stream buffer engine. For more information, see TV Ratings Components.

New Video Control Features: The Video Control now supports full DVD navigation and file playback, as well as the new functionality provided by the stream buffer engine, content security components, and TV ratings components. For more information, see Using the Video Control.
